INTRODUCTION:
A zinc free high copper silver-tin alloy,
designed for mixing with mercury either in a mechanical amalgamator/ vibrator
or by pestle and mortar.
It is a zinc free amalgam alloy which
contains silver content 48% and have superior properties to conventional
alloys. It increases 50% compressive strength in 1 hour and 40% in 24 hours. It
improves 17 fold in creep.
INDICATION
FOR USE:
All posterior restoration and any
restoration where aesthetics is not a prime consideration.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
The recommended ambient temperature for
mixing is 27 ± 2℃.
CAVITY PREPARATION:
The cavity should be dry and where a
matrix is required this should be placed in position. A suitable lining should be
used if thermal insulation is required.
ALLOY / MERCURY RATIO:
A 1:1.1 ratio by weight alloy to mercury
is used.
MIXING:
The amalgam made by using either pestle
and mortar or mechanical amalgamator or vibrator, may be squeezed using a
chamois leather or dental gauze to produce a drier mix. Mulling if desired,
must be carried out in a piece of rubber dam or a finger stall.
PACKING AND CONDENSING:
Condense successive increments
immediately after insertion until cavity is slightly over-filled. Remove any
mercury rich amalgam that develops during condensation.
CARVING AND FINISHING:
Start carving at once. A smooth carve may
be obtained using conventional instruments, the major portion of finishing
being accomplished during this procedure.
POLISHING:
Wait 24 hours after placement before
polishing. Polish in normal manner to produce a lasting mirror-like surface.
